The Volusia Public School System is home to nearly 63,000 students and more than 8,000 employees. The system is the state's tenth largest school district and the largest employer in the county. More than half of the district's employees are skilled teachers, all of whom are state certified. Approximately 45 percent of instructional staff holds master's degrees, educational specialist degrees or doctorate degrees.
